in the 50th year of his age on the
13th November 1838 on board H.M. Ship Hercules
in Carisle Bay Barbadoes having embarked
with the regiment for North America on the 10th
This tablet is erected by his brother
officers as a token of respect and esteem
for his character and a mark of regret
for his loss
He served in the 36th Regiment for an
uninterrupted period of 33 years and
was present with it in the following
actions viz. Buenos Ayres, Roleia, Vimiera
Corunna, Almeida, Flushing, Fuentes, D'Onor
Both stormings of the Fort of Salamanca
the action of Salamanca (where he was wounded)
and the operations before Burgos
