who was suddenly summoned
from his earthly labors
while present at a meeting of the
Barbados Church Society
on the evening of the 30th July 1860
He died as he had lived
engaged in the service of God
promoting the cause of Religion
and pursuing the path of duty
"Blessed are those servants whom the
Lord when he cometh shall find watching"

For over thirty years he faithfully
discharged the difficult and responsible
office of a teacher and this monument
had been erected by his pupils in grateful
and affectionate remembrance of the
instruction and paternal oversight which
it was their priviledge to receive from him
"Mark the perfect man and behold the upright
for the end of that man is peace"
