Sacred
to the memory of
the Reverend HAMBLE JAMES LEACOCK
who died, as the First West India Church Missionary
to Western Africa, at Sierra Leone August 20th 1856
aged 61
This tablet is erected by sorrowing friends and
fellow parishioners in token of their high and
affectionate esteem for a man of God who after
exercising for many years here and elsewhere his
high and holy functions with great zeal and earn-
-estness was willing in humble imitation of his great
Exemplar to give his life a sacrifice to others in
the hope of bringing many sons to glory
"Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his Saints"
